The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an independent international no-profit organization established in 1993 by a group of environmental associations including Greenpeace, representatives of native populations, organizations for cooperation to development, timber producers, workers, timber industries, forestry scientists and engineers, with a view to shedding light on a wealth of labels and statements by means of a credible and independent international scheme.
The FSC Certification ensures consumers worldwide that the timber used in manufacturing certain products comes from forests managed in compliance with high standards of environmental protection. The FSC Certification is already extremely popular in some European markets which have been traditionally sensitive to environmental problems (especially North-Western Europe) and in North America. All timber products bearing the FSC logo have been certified by independent organizations as coming from forests where the FSC principles and criteria are complied with.
TEXPOL is proud of having obtained the certification above in 2002.
